Combat Voter Suppression

Combat Voter Suppression

Voter Suppression has long plagued the U.S. election system, particularly impacting communities of color. Today, underrepresented communities continue the fight for equal access to the ballot.

  • The Temple Adat Elohim Voter Rights Task Force is participating in the Religious Action Center’s Every Voice, Every Vote Campaign which partners with the Center for Common Ground, a non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization.
  • The mission of the Every Voice, Every Vote campaign is to empower under-represented voters to fully participate in elections. To support that mission, they provide voter education on how to monitor voter registration status, find voting locations (vote centers, drop boxes and voting precincts) as well as county contacts for local boards of elections or registrars.
  • TAE partners can participate in their nonpartisan postcard campaigns in targeted states where voters’ rights are being negatively impacted through various laws and actions.
    • This is a nonpartisan campaign.
    • We will be sending postcards to voters of color and older voters across the country to encourage them to register to vote and to remind them to check that their registration is current.
    • Each volunteer will receive a packet with 30 postcards, guidelines for doing the postcards, a voter list and a script for writing the postcard. Volunteers will provide postage.
    • To receive the postcards, please send an email to socialaction@adatelohim.com.
    • One of the TAE committee members will contact you with the time/location to pick up the postcards in a few weeks.
