Donate a new pair of shoes to a child attending school in the Conjeo Valley School District who is unhoused.

Many children do not have shoes that fit them, or the shoes that they have are old and worn. Some of these children have always received hand me downs or thrift store shoes. The shoes you donate might be a child’s first pair of new shoes.
When you give a child a pair of shoes, you give them so much more. Hope. Dignity. Joy.
Schools have reported that receiving a new pair of shoes provides:
- 87% increase in self-esteem
- 70% increase physical activity
- 56% improved behavior
At present, around 250 children in the Conejo Unified School District are considered unhoused. Many children do not have shoes that fit them, or the shoes that they have are old and worn. Some of these children have always received hand me downs or thrift store shoes. The shoes you donate might be a child’s first pair of new shoes.TAE is committed to providing shoes to these children.
The TAE chapter of ‘Shoes That Fit’ was established in the fall of 2017. Through this program, donors receive a child’s name, shoe size, and the type of shoe needed. They then purchase a pair of shoes and drop them off at the temple. The shoes are subsequently delivered to the child through their school.
Here is how you can help:
1. SIGNING UP: Please sign up by February 15 to commit to purchasing a pair of shoes so we can inform the coordinator about the of children we will be able to help. Next, the CVUSD Outreach Coordinator will measure the children’s feet and send us a list that includes including their names and shoe sizes.
2. SELECTING A CHILD: After signing up, in late February, you will receive an email with instructions on how to select a child for whom you would like to buy shoes.
3. AFTER SELECTING A CHILD: Please purchase the shoes and drop them off in the designated box located in the TAE office by March 20, 2024. The shoes will then be delivered to the children on March 22, 2024.
