Club Chesed

Chesed, (which means “kindness” in Hebrew), is a family social action group. We work to teach our children about the wonderful world of helping others through monthly, age appropriate activities. Club Chesed started at TAE in 2001. It was a recipient of the Union of Reform Judaism Fain Social Action Award recognizing exemplary social action programs.

What Is The Commitment?

Club Chesed activities are scheduled periodically throughout the year, usually on Sundays after Religious School. We often meet with sack lunches or order a pizza, then jump into our event. Not every family can make every event, so we are very flexible! Some events require advance registration and fill up quickly.

What Is The Goal?

If you’ve ever heard yourself say, “My kids don’t realize how lucky they are,” join Club Chesed. By exposing your children to a wide range of social action opportunities, you teach them – not through guilt or fear but through positive action – to feel empowered to help those in need.

What Are The Activities?

Club Chesed projects focus on various areas of need including homeless, seniors, children in hospitals, animals, and more. Club Chesed is parent-run and inspired, so if you have any ideas, feel free to bring them up!
