Club Chesed: A Family Social Action Group
Club Chesed is Temple Adat Elohim’s family social action group, open to all our TAE partners! At the heart of this program is Chesed (חֶסֶד), the Hebrew word for “kindness.”
Club Chesed is a place to take action, give back, and grow together while making a meaningful impact in our community through hands-on activities!
- Assemble care packages for those in need
- Participate in service projects that support local organizations
- Engage in acts of kindness that benefit children, seniors, animals, and more
- Foster a spirit of giving while learning the value of social action
- Create lasting memories by making a difference together as a family
Founded at TAE in 2001, Club Chesed was honored with the Union of Reform Judaism’s Fain Social Action Award, recognizing it as an exemplary social action program.

Why Join Club Chesed?
If you’ve ever thought, “My kids don’t realize how lucky they are,” Club Chesed offers a way to cultivate gratitude and compassion.
Through hands-on social action, children learn to make a real impact—not through guilt, but through positive, empowering experiences.
How Does It Work?
Club Chesed is designed for families with children ages 5-18, working together with parents or other special adults in their lives.
- Activities are scheduled periodically throughout the year, typically on Sundays after Religious School.
- A pizza lunch is usually provided before jumping into the activity.
- Participation is flexible – join when you can! Some events require advance registration and may fill up quickly.
Chesed events are designed for families with children ages 5-18 participating alongside their parents/special adults in their lives.

- ✔️ Supporting seniors

- ✔️ Caring for animals
- ✔️ And more!
Club Chesed is parent-led and always open to new ideas—have a project in mind? Let’s make it happen!
