Bring your own dinner and dine with us at the beach. This congregational dinner is open to all. Bring your friends! - 6:30 PM – Kabbalat Shabbat
Enjoy a special Shabbat service with Rabbi Diamond and Cantor Shukiar on the sand! This service is in lieu of services in the Sanctuary!
Remember to bring beach chairs, blankets, jackets, and whatever else you need to stay comfortable! If you are observing the yahrzeit of a loved one, their name will be read on Friday at the beach and again on Saturday morning.
ABOUT SHABBAT SHUVA – Shabbat Shuva is a special day for Jewish people. It takes place on the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). We think about things we did wrong and how we can make them right. We say sorry to people we hurt and try to be better. It is a special day to be sorry, forgive others, and become better people.
WHY THE BEACH? At Temple Adat Elohim, our tradition is to welcome the Shabbat on this special day at the beach. The water holds significant symbolism in Jewish tradition, representing purity, cleansing, and renewal. The beach, with its proximity to the ocean or a body of water, can serve as a powerful reminder of these themes, aligning with the themes of repentance and forgiveness. The beach also offers a serene and peaceful environment, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. This tranquility can create a conducive atmosphere for introspection, prayer, and meaningful discussions about repentance and personal growth.
