  • 7:00 PM – Forgiveness Begins with Understanding: A Selichot Program

In a world often marked by division and discord, healing starts with a simple yet profound act: listening. Our Selichot program invites you to explore the transformative power of compassionate listening.

This evening, we will embark on a journey of understanding, setting aside debate and persuasion to truly hear the personal stories of those with whom we might differ. Through genuine curiosity and empathy, we will practice the art of compassionate listening, an essential step towards reconciliation and forgiveness.

Join us for an enriching Selichot service where we will learn and apply this healing skill, fostering a deeper connection with each other and ourselves.

  • 8:15 PM – Havdalah and Healing Service

Join Rabbi Diamond, Cantor Shukiar, and the TAE Chorale for readings and prayers of healing. The Torah mantles will be changed to white in preparation for the High Holy Days. Rabbi Diamond and Cantor Shukiar will be wearing their white robes for the first time this year.

ABOUT SELICHOT – The literal definition of the Hebrew word Selichot means ‘forgiveness.’ The observation of Selichot, the traditional prayers recited in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah, is one of the most inspirational services of the High Holy Days season. To comprehend the profound idea of forgiveness – we must seek ways to change, to reflect and to renew ourselves with others and with God during this time of the year. It is through liturgy, rituals, and communal worship that we can help ourselves in this process. Learn more about the service >>
