The Jewish High Holy Days are a reflective time of beginnings and endings. We welcome a new year, ripe with hope and opportunity. We close the gates on the year gone by, going deep into our hearts and souls to examine, atone and recommit to doing better. It is a profound process of self-examination and determination to grow and be better in the year ahead.

Elul Reflections

During the month of Elul, we are called upon to hear the sound of the shofar each day and read Psalms and reflective readings that encourage us to examine our lives more fully. Beginning on Friday, August 21, the first day of Elul, we would like to email you one reflective reading for each day leading up to Rosh Hashanah. These brief readings can water the arid soil of our soul. To receive the daily reflections, please sign up using the link below.

HIGH HOLY DAY FOOD DRIVE

September 17 – 19
Anytime – Please see below for in-person drop-off times.

It is our annual tradition to provide food donations to those in need in our community during the High Holidays.  We choose to fast on Yom Kippur, but many of our neighbors fast involuntarily on a regular basis.  For the last three years, we have donated over 6500 pounds of food each year to Manna Conejo Food Bank.  They rely on our donation in the fall to fill their shelves.

Most needed items: Canned tuna, canned meats, soup & stew, chili, corn, other vegetables, peanut butter & jelly, cereal, boxed rice, Hamburger Helper & pasta.

Our annual Food Drive will take place in conjunction with the High Holy Day Experience and Rosh Hashanah. Please bring your food donation to the temple anytime between September 17 – 19. The Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank truck will be in our parking lot.

You may also choose to make a donation to Manna. Simply mail your check, payable to Manna, to the temple. We will forward all donations directly to Manna.

In Person Food Drive Drop-Off:
If you prefer to drop off food when a volunteer can help you, please bring your bag(s) on the days and times listed below.

      • Thursday, September 17, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
