Interfaith Youth Project for James Storehouse

When children are reunited with a parent or when a youth ages out of foster care and is setting up their first apartment, they often start with little to no belongings. To ease their transition, James Storehouse provides Kitchen and Bed/Bath Starter Kits. These items can easily be purchased at a Dollar Store and are a huge encouragement to the recipient!

Birthday Buddies was started in 2018 by a local middle school student in order to support James Storehouse’s desires to celebrate each foster child they serve.

During the month of February and March, all faiths and community members are invited to collect birthday party supplies and starter kit supplies for children in the foster care system and for those who are aging out.

Bring collected donations to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1600 Erbes, Thousand Oaks on March 18th at 6:30pm. We will sort and package the starter kits, and birthday supplies as well as make tie blankets and birthday banners to be used at future birthday events organized through James Storehouse.

All youth are invited and encourage to attend on March 18th.

If you are unable to attend the event on March 18, Temple Adat Elohim is collecting the items needed for the baskets. Bring them to the box in the temple office by March 16. and we will transport.

Making a Difference Together
“You are not required to complete the work, yet you are not allowed to desist from it”
– Pirkei Avot, 2:21

The mission of TAE’s Social Action Committee is to encourage the education of and participation in understanding the local, national and global human needs around us. Whether the need is immediate or ongoing, we seek to develop and perform meaningful programs and acts of tikkun olam (healing the world) which respond to those needs. We strive to perform mitzvot reflecting the ideals of Reform Judaism and welcome involvement from all temple members.

For more about our Social Action Committee visit the Social Action on the TAE Website.
