PRESS RELEASE:

DRIVE THRU, TAKE OUT SCHEDULED FOR FREE CHRISTMAS DINNER

Thousand Oaks, CA – Once again, Temple Adat Elohim (TAE) is proud to be hosting its 27th annual FREE Christmas Dinner.

Robin Fox, the event co-chair explains, “As we did last year, we will be turning the sit-down holiday dinner into a drive-thru, take-out dinner.  We hope to be able to return to our in-person, festive meal in 2022!”

On December 25th, Christmas Day, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., we invite our local community members to drive through our festively decorated parking lot located at 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, while listening to festive music, to pick up a hot traditional family meal and gifts for children and adults! “This is our way to honor our commitment to kindness and outreach to the greater community, particularly to those who may be lonely or in need during this holiday season,” Fox said.

TAE spiritual leader Rabbi Barry Diamond calls the annual event “an outpouring of love and caring by a robust corps of temple volunteers dedicated to heal the world by assisting others in our community.”  People sometimes find it curious that a Jewish synagogue has sponsored a Christmas dinner for more than 26 years, Rabbi Diamond notes.  “The fact is, we believe bringing kindness to those in the larger community is an integral part of Judaism and our mission to heal the world,” he explains.

This year’s Temple Adat Elohim Holiday Dinner is made possible thanks to the generosity of many community philanthropic services and donations including:

  • Larry Vad of Ideal Meats and Provisions
  • Scott Floman of Big Screen Cuisine
  • Costco Westlake Village
  • Top Tier Treats
  • The Conejo Valley PTA
  • Knightsbridge International
  • Temple volunteers and caring community members
