As you have seen in the news, thousands of families who live in Afghanistan, many of whom risked their lives to help the U.S. military, are being brought to the U.S. We now have an opportunity to help these families!
The Conejo Valley Refugee Welcoming Team is currently preparing to help settle families (they have not arrived yet). We are just working out the details, but we anticipate that we will need people to help in the following ways:
- Volunteer to help introduce families to American culture.
- Help them settle and furnish their new homes.
- Help them navigate grocery stores, transportation, enrolling children in school, employment, doctor appointments, learning English, driving lessons and much more.
- Provide financial donations to help them with many uncovered expenses. You can make a donation to Temple Adat Elohim www.adatelohim.org/donate, and indicate that it is for “Social Action – Refugee Resettlement.” We will then direct these dollars to the families when they arrive.
We will be providing more information regarding specific needs in the coming weeks. If you are interested in finding out more about helping (this is not a commitment), please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
