Potluck Dinner & Program in the Sukkah
Monday, October 17th, 7 pm
We invite our “Sisters” to Dine in the Sukkah + Program. Our special guest speaker will be Martin Brower, author of Los Angeles Jew: A Memoir. He will be telling us about the amazing growth & development of the L.A. Jewish Community. Martin was born in Los Angeles, graduated from UCLA where he was editor of the daily newspaper, and pursued a career in journalism and public relations. He also worked as head of public relations for the architectural firm of Welton Becket and Associates, which designed such projects as the Los Angeles Music Center and Century City.
Martin’s book covers the growth of the L.A. Jewish community set against his own life in L.A. & his involvement with the Jewish community. He is currently a resident of Newport Beach where he writes a monthly column for Coast magazine He is married to Tamar, who is on the board of the Sisterhood of Temple Bat Yahm, and they have four grown children.
WHAT TO BRING: This will be a Dairy or Parve Potluck Dinner (no meat, pork, or shellfish). The first four (4) people who call and want to bring a kugel will get the “go-ahead,” and the kugel category will be closed. You will then need to select another dish to bring.
The potluck dinner is organized as follows:
Last Name A–L: Appetizer/Side dish
Last Name M–S: Main dish
Last name T–Z: Dessert

Homeless Shelter Dinner
Wednesday, October 26th - 6:15pm - Westminster Presbyterian Church 32111 Watergate Rd., Westlake Village
Dear Sisters! Thank you so much for your wonderful, delicious, and generous support for homeless people by providing dinners for them during the past several years. Please Save the Date! Sisterhood will be providing dinner and lunches for the Homeless Shelter for food drop-off. If you can help serve, the time commitment is from 6:15–7:15 p.m.
We need main dishes (for 10–15 people), vegetables (for 20), and salad (for 20). Sack lunches are also needed. Meals are served at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village.

Monthly Mah Jongg Tournament
September 2011 through June 2012 (except October due to High Holy Days)
The tournament will run on the first Wednesday of the month. Everyone is invited to participate, either as a player or substitute. The fee for players is $50, which benefits our wonderful temple. Prizes will be awarded at the end - everyone is a winner!
FEE: $50. YOU MUST REGISTER BY: Wednesday, August 24th.
