Rachamim - Social Action Opportunities For Youths 9-17 Years Old
Rachamim encourages participation as a family – this is NOT a drop-off program. Siblings are always welcome (some activities do have a minimum age requirement).
What Is The Time Commitment?
Rachamim activities are scheduled only once a month, usually on Sundays after religious school. We often meet with sack lunches or order a pizza, then jump into our event. Not every family can make every event, so we are very flexible! Some events require advance registration and fill up quickly.
What Is The Goal?
If you’ve ever heard yourself say, “My kids don’t realize how lucky they are,” check out Rachamim. By exposing your children to a wide range of
social action opportunities, you teach them – not through guilt or fear but through positive action – to feel empowered to help those in need.
In addition, Rachamim can be a great resource for pre- bar/bat mitzvah students looking for a mitzvah project or older youth needing community service
hours.
Is There a Cost?
We ask for a voluntary, nominal contribution of $18 per year, per family to help pay for supplies for our activities.
What Are The Activities?
Rachamim events cover many different areas of need, from helping the homeless to beautifying the environment. Rachamim is parent-run and inspired, so feel free to bring up any ideas you have!
